Site News: Welcome John Morgan

John, formerly of one of SB Nation's best NFL blogs Field Gulls, has agreed to come onboard Advanced NFL Stats. I've been a fan of John's for a couple years and I'm looking forward to his contributions. He'll be initially chronicling some of the most exciting games of the past season in the eyes of WP and Excitement Index (the EI number on all the WP graphs).

Here are couple comments from John's farewell from Field Gulls:

John, the particular flavor of your writing sucked me in. I wouldn’t know half of what I know about the game or current football events without ya.

John's writing has been inspirational. I have learned so much about my favorite team from this man, so much about football. Reading his posts on here is such a pleasure because of the quality of the language, writing, and well supported evidence he puts up.

So give John a warm welcome. We're lucky to have him.

  3. Field Gulls became my favorite site because of Mr. Morgan. The only time I contributed to Field Gulls was when I linked the weekly game probabilities. This is a match made in heaven for me!

  5. Good, I thought he stepped up to the writing that you can only find behind a pay wall. Look forward to coming to this site more often. Sad to say that I don't go to Field Gulls as much without John there.

  13. I am excited to see John Morgan here at Advanced NFL Stats. I loved his writing at FieldGulls. To those who say that that blog sucks now, maybe it's because the NFL is only about lawsuits right now and there is turnover amongst the writing staff at the same time. Give it time.

But, "in the toilet", and "boring piece of crap", wow! The whole state of the NFL right now is "in the toilet" and a "boring piece of crap". Two things I can't stand, Fair weather Seahawk fans, and now, fair weather Field Gull fans!!!

  20. John Morgan is a joke. Without the ability to censor opposing arguments like he did with impunity at Field Gulls, he will soon be shown for the irrational blowhard that he is. Have fun tearing him to pieces!

  21. I'm glad I will be able to read Morgan's writing. It was the only reason i went to field gulls. Now that he's not there, the site is basically dead...just a couple of mediocre "writers" and a handful of overbearing moderators.
