It's compared with hockey a lot but I've always thought it's more like basketball with contact.

I would have thought that face-offs are less important practice-wise than winning the turnover battle (ground balls, ball-handling, passing, defense).Adam Hnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38600807.post-28317991505251395202014-04-03T17:33:20.622-04:002014-04-03T17:33:20.622-04:00I have coached U13 lacrosse for eight years and pl...I have coached U13 lacrosse for eight years and played for 15 years. I agree with your theory that games are won/lost on battle for possession. Our first few weeks of practice focus solely on face-offs, ground balls and passing(to maintain possession). There is defensive work and some shooting, but the primary focus early in the season is winning the possession battle. When the kids complain that we don't work enough on offense, I explain that nobody is going to beat us if they don't get possession and with enough possession time, scoring opportunities will occur on their own. I've rarely finished a season with a losing record.Big Daddy K-Coolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12677369593081204775noreply@blogger.com
