I noticed Indy has equal success rate (47.9) in both the running and passing game on the advanced team stats. I'm wondering if this is the equilibrium that the game theory dictates. Would that be a better way than a rate stat to judge the run/pass balance? It seems to me that yards per attempt would still be better. If a team were to pass even more it would allow the few runs attempted to go for a lot of yards... maybe for a good team both running and passing would be netting an average of 6-7 yards per play.

I think that maybe a study of Belichik's time as HC of the Patriots might be rewarding in this regard. He HAS to understand that element of game theory. I looked a bit at the Pat's historical SR% and they are not really balanced. What elements could Belichik be looking at to assure that his offenses are as balanced as the available talent allows?

    Cheers,
    J
