Game Changers: Rivers Nails His Own Coffin

The Situation
Broncos at Chargers, Week 6
3rd Q, 11:29 to go
Chargers lead 24-21
Chargers ball; 3rd and 8 from their own 31

The Play
After having to abort a halfback screen, the Chargers were faced with third-and-long. Rivers dropped back and had good pocket protection, giving Robert Meachem plenty of time to develop his route down the middle of the field.

Rivers stepped up and fired, but the ball was under-thrown, and Tony Carter was able to step in front of Meachem to make a play on the ball.

The Stat: + .13 WPA for Denver

While this play didn't start Denver's monster comeback, it started the drive that led the Broncos over the 50% WP mark. Before this play, the Broncos were looking at a 33% chance of victory, but once the drive ended, Peyton Manning and the rest of the wild stallions were all the way up to 70%.
