The Play
After a solid kickoff return from Brandon Tate, the Bengals opened up in the wildcat formation with receiver Mohammed Sanu fielding the snap.
Redskins safety DeJon Gomes gets caught looking on the run action, opening up the entire middle of the field for A.J. Green to run free. Sanu winds up and throws an excellent pass, adding six points to the scoreboard.
The Stat: +.18 WPA for Cincinnati
This play really ended up setting the tone for the entire game, which ended 38-31 in favor of Cincy. At one point Washington had the advantage in terms of Win Probability, but the Bengals scored on their next two drives and put the game out of reach.
The Bengals won't be able to have this sort of success with their wildcat pass again, but getting out ahead of Robert Griffin III and a dangerous offense was worth its use.
I realize this is the epitome of missing the point, but I still found it hilarious how bad Sanu's throwing form is in that gif. He's actually stepping away from the receiver as he heaves the pass.
Edit out the inconvenient facts that the play resulted in a touchdown and that he's actually a wide receiver, and it's like something you put in an instructional video for 8th graders on how NOT to play quarterback.
Its bad, but its not Rex Burkhead bad.
